English: Midland Red (Express) Ltd was one of the companies created in 1981 out of the 6 way splitting up of the Midland Red Omnibus Company (see Category:Midland Red Omnibus Company). The Midland Express brand had been launched by the other four Midland Red companies in March 1983, and so to avoid confusiong with that, and to disance itself from the perception that it was an express only operator, in early May 1985 it was renamed Midland Red Coaches Ltd. On 22 December 1986 it was privatised when both it and Midland Red (West) Ltd were sold to the same buyer, with both businesses being merged into a new company, Midland Red West Ltd - see Category:Midland Red West) (the new company kept the Midland Red Coaches brand for these combined coach operations, phasing out its own Midwest coaching brand).
