English: Index of military aircraft categories ordered by designation. Designations are systemic alphanumeric codes (though sometimes exclusively numeric or alphabetic) which are assigned either by the manufacturer or operator of an aircraft. It may be assigned to cover an aircraft class, family, type, variant, or even an individual aircraft in some cases in according with the organization's own system. Categories should be indexed here within the category indexing the system by which the designation is given (e.g. Category:Aircraft by United States Tri-Service designation), as well as in the more general index Category:Aircraft by designation.
