Category:Minimum gauge railways

English: A minimum gauge railway is a narrow gauge railway of 15" or 18" gauge, as first described in the works of Sir Arthur Heywood. They represent the narrowest practical gauge for a 'working' railway, rather than a mere novelty. Heywood's original use was for them to be short-distance estate railways, or for agricultural or factory use. A few examples are long enough, around 10 miles, to be small-scale transportation systems.
