English: The gambrel-roofed Nathan Hale Schoolhouse on Atlantic Street between Parade Plaza and the Water Street Garagein New London, Connecticut, was built in 1773 and was originally located at what is now 180 State Street at the corner of Union Street. Called the Union School at the time, Nathan Hale was the school master from 1774 until the beginning of the American Revolutionary War in 1775. Hale had previously taught in East Haddam Connecticut.

The history of the building is convoluted. From its original site, it was moved to Union and Golden Street in 1830 to serve as a private residence. In 1890 the Connecticut Society of the Sons of the American Revolution purchased it in order to preserve it. It was moved to the Huntington Street burial ground, to Crystal Avenue in 1966, then nest to City Hall in 1975. The town moved it to Parade Plaza in 1988, and in 2009 it re-located to its current placement. (Description sources: [1], Historic plaques on site)
