Category:Paintings in the Megalo Meteoro (Meteora)

English: Due to its natural location the monastery has served as a protected repository for many forms of art, especially paintings on a religious theme. Frescoes are present in many public rooms such as the chapels, and the dining rooms. This is immoveable art, but the function or name of the room may change over the centuries, resulting in some degree of difficulty in associating the art with the name of a room or building. Other paintings are icons or other themes on moveable objects. Since the stairs were built and the monastery was opened to the public it has tended to become more of an art museum with display halls and a gift shop for sale of replicas.
