Petrarca stayed a few years in this house in 1362. At the Ponte del Sepolcro there is a commemorative plaque. The house was offered by the Senate with the promise that all his works would remain in Venice after his death. Also the great Tuscan poet Giovanni Boccaccio was hosted here. Petrarca left Venice in 1367 and moved to Padua and later to Arquà, where he spent the last years of his life. He died in 1374.
