The Paxton Phoenix was a concept automobile developed to explore steam power in automobiles. Further, it doubles as a styling study by designer Brooks Stevens for an light sports car, pioneering fibre glass coachwork, and featuring a electrically powered retractable hardtop.

Although a steam engine named Doble Ultimax was built by Paxton Automotive (then a division of Los Angeles based McCulloch Motors Corporation), it never was fitted in the car. Instead, a Porsche 1500 engine was installed later.
