Nederlands: In de vroege zomer van 1957 kende Den Briel een waterloos tijdperk, veroorzaakt door voortdurende droogte. De bronnen in de duinen bij Oostvoorne waren volkomen leeg geraakt en kinderen liepen met emmers door de straten op zoek naar een regenput om hun moeders aan wat water te helpen. De brandweer van Den Briel heeft, met een drie kilometer lange sleep van her en der geleende slangen water uit het Brielse Meer naar de waterleidingduinen gepompt om het stadje zijn normale watertoevoer te verzekeren.
