The Portland Assembly Center was built around the Pacific International Livestock Exposition Pavilion, which would later become the Portland Metropolitan Exposition Center.
- It held a total of 4,290 Japanese Americans (including some issei) from northeast Oregon and central Washington, including the Wapato area.
- Internees were sent from the Portland Assembly Center to the Tule Lake War Relocation Center in California, the Minidoka War Relocation Center in Idaho, and the Heart Mountain War Relocation Center in Wyoming.[1][2][3]
