Category:Première salle du Palais-Royal

English: The first Salle du Palais-Royal, a former theatre in Paris, France, was located in the east wing of the Palais-Royal and faced the rue Saint-Honoré. It was built by Cardinal Richelieu and was inaugurated in 1641 (see Category:Grande salle du Palais-Cardinal). Molière and his troupe performed in the theatre from 1660 up to Molière's death in 1673. The theatre was the home of the Paris Opera from 16 June 1673 to 6 April 1763, when it was destroyed by fire. A new theatre was built slightly further to the east, which opened on 20 January 1770 (see Category:Seconde salle du Palais-Royal).
