English: A rotary converter is a rotating, inductive electrical machine, used to transform a supply of electricity at one polarity, phase, frequency or voltage into another.
One obvious form is the coupled motor-generator pair. Another form, the typical rotary converter, uses only a single rotating winding. These are usually used to convert between AC & DC, or between three-phase and single-phase AC.
