English: South Australian was a composite-hulled, full-rigged ship built in 1868 by W. Pile & Co., Sunderland. Dimensions: 201'0"×36'0"×20'1" and tonnage: 1,078 GRT, 1,040 NRT and 897 tons under deck. Rigged with double topsails and a main skysail. 1889 sunk in a collision ten miles WNW of Lundy Island, North Devon, on voyage from Cardiff to Rosario with a cargo of railway iron.[1] All but one of her crew of 23 men were saved.[2]
