Category:St Peter's Barton-upon-Humber (label stop heads)

Some of the heads pictured here are of medieval origin, but some have been identified as a set of humorous faux-Romanesque portraits of the sculptors and architect who restored the building in 1859. Since the sculptural restoration is credited to the studio of Catherine Mawer, she is credited here for the work, although any of her team could have done it. The recognisable 19th-century caricatures of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert are indications that the heads are not all medieval works.
