As part of Phase 1 of Surrey County Council's Bus Review, route 72 was withdrawn. Route 437 was diverted via Maybury Estate and College Road as a replacement. Walton Road and Maybury Road were/are served by other routes anyway. The changes came into effect on 28 August 2010, therefore route 72's last day was 27 August 2010.
