English: Techfest, an independent body run by students of Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, Mumbai, is the pioneer of science and technology festivals in India. It is Asia's largest annual science and technology festival. Apart from this, it has been involved in taking many path breaking initiatives to promote eco-friendly technology. Techfest started off on a small scale in 1998 with the aim of providing a platform for students to showcase their technical skills and in the short period of 10 years has grown to become Asia's largest festival of its kind. The last few editions of Techfest have seen more than 60,000 participants from more than 2100 colleges across India along with teams from countries like the USA, Singapore, Nepal, Iran, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, UAE, Denmark , Venezuela, Canada and Pakistan. Apart from student involvement, Techfest also sees more than 4,500 faculty and corporate participants.
தமிழ் : டெக்ஃபெஸ்ட்(Techfest), மும்பையிலுள்ள இந்திய தொழில்நுட்பக் கழக மாணவர்கள் தன்னிச்சையாக நடத்தும் ஓர் அறிவியல் மற்றும் தொழில்நுட்ப விழாவாகும். இத்தகைய விழாக்களுக்கு இந்தியாவில் முன்னோடியாக விளங்கும் இது ஆசியாவிலேயே மிகப்பெரும் விழாவாக உள்ளது. சுற்றுப்புற சூழலை மாசாக்காத தொழில்நுட்ப வளர்ச்சிக்கு இந்த விழா பெரிதும் உதவியுள்ளது. 1998ஆம் ஆண்டு மாணவர்களுக்கு தங்கள் தொழில்திறனை வெளிக்காட்ட ஓர் தளமாக அமையும் பொருட்டு சிறிய அளவில் துவங்கப்பட்ட இவ்விழா அடுத்த பத்தாண்டுகளில் இவ்வளர்ச்சியைக் கண்டுள்ளது. இந்தியாவின் பல பகுதிகளிலிருக்கும் 2100 கல்லூரிகளிலிருந்து 60,000த்திற்கும் கூடுதலான பங்கேற்பாளர்களும் பிற நாடுகளிலிருந்து குழுக்களும் இங்கு சிறப்பித்திருக்கிறார்கள்.பங்கு பெற்ற சில நாடுகள்:அமெரிக்க ஐக்கிய நாடு,சிங்கப்பூர்,நேபாளம்,ஈரான்,பங்களாதேசம்,இலங்கை,டென்மார்க்,வெனிசூலா,கனடா மற்றும் பாகிஸ்தான். மாணவர்களைத் தவிர டெக்ஃபெஸ்ட் பல வணிக நிறுவனங்களையும் ஆசிரிய பெருமக்களையும் ஈர்த்துள்ளது. இதன் குறிக்கோள் வாசகம்: தொழில்நுட்பம் மகிழ்வானது (Technology is Fun).
