Object history 1894: given by Sir Henry Tate
Notes
English: companion figure: ‘Applause’ Early photographs show the statue with a protective brown wax coating, which obscures its polychrome decoration. The wax was removed and the polychrome finish restored by the Tate in the 1990s.
