Category:Tikkurila–Hakkila railway

English: Tikkurila–Hakkila railway (also known as "Santarata") is a three kilometer industrial siding in Vantaa, Finland, leading from Tikkurila railway station to Hakkila rail yard. It was built as a siding for Helsinki–Riihimäki railway in 1910. There has been no commercial traffic on this track since 2011, although the rail yard at the end of the line is still in use as a storage for equipment like track ballast. The line also used to have minor branch lines to several private properties but every single one of them have been dismantled. The track is seen as problematic for urban planning, and the City of Vantaa has been trying to remove the railway line out of the town plan. The stated aim for dismantling is 2024, however the Transport Infrastructure Agency claims the siding being vital for trackworks and has not yet found an alternate location for a new rail yard.
