English: Tingira was a composite-hulled three-masted full-rigged ship, built in 1866 as Sobraon. She was built of teak and iron by Alexander Hall, Aberdeen for Shaw, Lowther, Maxton & Co, London. Dimensions: 212 × 40 × 27 ft (64.6 × 12.1 × 8.2 m). Tonnages: 2,131 GRT, 2,131 NRT and 2,089 tons under deck. She was the largest composite sailing ship ever built. Originally rigged with skysails. In 1911 she was sold to the Commonwealth Government and renamed HMAS Tingara. She was converted into a training ship for boys entering the Royal Australian Navy. In 1927 she was sold and moored in Berry's Bay, Sydney. She was scrapped in 1940.[1][2][3]
