Category:Vernier couplings

A vernier coupling is a device used two couple two shafts, so that they may be precisely adjusted in their phase relative to each other. They are commonly used to set the injection timing of a diesel engine. A typical coupling has couplers of 19 and 20 teeth, allowing up to 380 increments per revolution, or an adjustment precision of slightly better than one degree.
