Le puits existe depuis le Ve siècle. Il doit son nom au miracle de la guérison de la mère de la sainte. Il a été l'objet de nombreux pèlerinages , notamment celui d'Anne d'Autriche en 1636 pour obtenir la naissance d'un héritier à la couronne. L'édifice constitué d'un dôme soutenu par quatre colonnes a été construit au XIXe siècle.
