Category talk:Blank pages

Why is this a hidden category (and itself uncategorized)? Surely some people might want to find scans of blank pages? If nothing else, they could be very useful if one needed some paper texture. —Ilmari Karonen (talk) 23:24, 1 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

I guess it could do that.
Currently it's a maintenance category (categorized as such) I used to identify blank pages of a book batch upload .
For systematic reasons, these page should probably be kept, but the category could be renamed and the files condensed in one way or the other. I vaguely recall that other book batches use some sort of a placeholder image instead.
Maybe WikiSource has a standard way to deal with these pages. -- User:Docu at 10:11, 2 May 2010 (UTC)Reply
The current name seems appropriate for a general-purpose category; it would fit in well as a subcategory of Category:Pages. (I'd be inclined to also put it in Category:Paper per my earlier comment.) I'm not sure what the name of the corresponding maintenance category should be, if indeed such a category is needed. I suppose it really comes down to what we want to do with the files that would go in it. —Ilmari Karonen (talk) 11:20, 2 May 2010 (UTC)Reply
I tried to find out how WikiSource would work with them, but I only got to Wikisource:Category:Without text. It seems to consist of djvu file pages that are blank or only include illustrations. -- User:Docu at 12:14, 3 May 2010 (UTC)Reply
Curiously, the first page I happened to click in that category was wikisource:Page:A Dictionary of Music and Musicians vol 1.djvu/2. In fact, quite many of the pages in that category seem, despite the name, to have at least some text. I suppose the actual criterion for inclusion there is "do[es] not require double proofreading", as the category description says. —Ilmari Karonen (talk) 19:59, 3 May 2010 (UTC)Reply
"Without text" is probably everything they are not interested in. BTW Pretty good that WikiSource extension, compared to Commmons, I'm a bit jealous .. -- User:Docu at 21:14, 3 May 2010 (UTC)Reply
BTW, there is also Wikisource:Category:Pages from The New Student's Reference Work - blank, that includes e.g. File:LA2-NSRW-1-0183.jpg. -- User:Docu at 12:27, 3 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Ill remove it from the maintenance content. This category is collecting blank pages, its a topic, not a maintenance category. There is nothing we can do with this blank book pages, we can not fill them with text and we will not delete them unless someone opens a deletion request on an individual file. Blank book pages are a sideeffect of book uploads, if someone wants to categorize this blank pages here to have illustrative examples of blank pages: well, no problem. --Martin H. Updated Categories edit

Because of the errant Bot Script of User:Fae there are now tons of blank pages and blank back covers and poorly scanned pages that end up blank or reversed. I am placing all these in this Cat. It is now active and appropriate WayneRay (talk) 22:50, 23 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
