Madrassas edit

Right now we have:

Not only is the spelling of the supercategory inconsistent with the subcategories, en-wiki has en:Madrasah instead.

Clearly at least Commons should be internally consistent. I propose:

but would settle for anything within reason that is consistent. - Jmabel ! talk 01:00, 7 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Category:Qur'an schools edit

Qur'an schools and Madrasas are the same thing. People open different cats without looking around. Either use the original word ("Madrasa") or an English explanation like "Qur'an schools" but not both. IPs hover around "Islamic" themes and we get unnecessary work. I was going to suggest merging to Madrasa, but after reading en:Madrasa, I'm not sure: "Madrasa is the Arabic word for any type of educational institution, secular or religious (of any religion), whether for elementary instruction or higher learning. (...) In the West, the word usually refers to a specific type of religious school or college for the study of the Islamic religion, though this may not be the only subject studied. In countries like India, not all students in madrasas are Muslims; there is also a modern curriculum." - Themightyquill (talk) 10:13, 14 December 2018 (UTC)Reply
Would it be worth moving everything to Category:Islamic madrasas (and so forth), a term used in en:Madrasa, for clarity. Or is that unnecessary? - Themightyquill (talk) 09:12, 20 December 2018 (UTC)Reply

Redirected to Category:Madrasas. - Themightyquill (talk) 10:19, 5 December 2019 (UTC)Reply
