Category talk:Uploaded with Mobile/Android
Without allowing automatical categorising, naming, and uploading of files, We are going to have a mess with uncategorised files. Its necessary to have the option of multiple uploads (numered) with a categorising option. Otherwise, this app will not be as powerful as it could. Besides, it gives problems when uploading files with "/" symbol, plus doesn't uploads (keeps in queue) files with a dot in its name.--Coentor (talk) 21:28, 19 March 2013 (UTC)
- Multiple numbered uploads is actually supported, but it's not obvious yet -- you have to do multiple selection in the Gallery app, then share them to the Commons app. Currently starting from the Commons app you can only select one at a time, I'm not sure if we can improve that on Android but we'll look into it.
- Issues with bad names getting stuck in queue are known, I'll file some notes for that.
- Automatic category suggestion is definitely something we're interested in but we haven't yet figured out the best way to handle it. The latest version should at least remember recently-used categories, which makes it easier when you're dealing with multiple related images. Name/search-based or location-based category suggestions may be farther down the line.

- Yes, I know that some of the "issues" have been implemented. Thanks!--Coentor (talk) 21:23, 2 May 2013 (UTC)
{{Location|null}} edit
Hi, several of files in this category also appear in Category:Media with erroneous locations because they contain {{Location|null}} (example: File:Schloss runkelstein südtirol - 9.jpg). Does somebody know where this comes from? --Arnd (talk) 19:22, 11 September 2016 (UTC)
- I created an Phabricator issue. --Arnd (talk) 04:56, 12 September 2016 (UTC)
Uploaded with breakdown by date edit
What's the reasoning/logic behind splitting up the uploads between Jul 2016 - Jun 2017 and Nov 2017-Aug 2019? Category-by-year would be more useful. // sikander { talk } 🦖 11:47, 23 September 2019 (UTC)
- Hello, it's for grant analytics, I believe [1] answers your question. It's because famous tools like https://tools.wmflabs.org/ptools/uploadersincat.php doesn't allow to filter by timestamp. Best, --Martin Urbanec (talk) 12:29, 23 September 2019 (UTC)
