Oppose the rename. The current name is better. This is a category of victims, not only of their deaths. --ŠJů (talk) 19:35, 21 April 2012 (UTC)Reply
If that is the case, then this category should not be a subcategory of "Category:Dead people by manner of death". — Cheers, JackLee talk 20:28, 21 April 2012 (UTC)Reply
Category:Dead people by manner of death is a category of dead people, not a category of deaths of people. If dictionaries are right, a "death" is only an event, not a person which died. --ŠJů (talk) 21:53, 23 April 2012 (UTC)Reply
That may well be true from a linguistic point of view, but for our purposes what is the difference between the two? We are not going to have two categories, one for "deaths" and the other for "dead people". Anyway, this doesn't seem to be the issue at hand. The real question is whether the category should be called "victims" (i.e., the category can contain files relating to both deceased people and people affected in other ways – such as people who survived the massacre?) or "deaths" (only deceased people). If we want to retain name name "victims", then the category should not be a subcategory of "Dead people by manner of death" since it is wider. We would have to create a separate "Deaths from massacres during the Polish 1970 protests" subcategory. — Cheers, JackLee talk 14:33, 24 April 2012 (UTC)Reply
