Commons:Equipment exchange

Equipment exchange is a forum where media contributors to Wikimedia Foundation projects can request, donate, sell, or barter equipment for the production of free content, including camera equipment, computer equipment, art supplies, and software. Equipment is not restricted to be solely or indefinitely used for free content production, but this should be one of its major uses. List items with one of the following prefixes:

WTB: A request for an item needed to produce free content.
Donation: An item being offered for free.
For sale: An item being sold at reduced cost compared to general market prices.
Volts/Hz: Some cameras may have adapters that will work in any country. Enter this in first post to save queries on it.

Offers should describe the purpose that the equipment will be used for, and any current equipment the offerer has. Offers may offer a lower amount, or offer another item in trade. Donators/sellers may review the contribution history of offerers to select an offer.

Exchange of payment information (e.g. Paypal account names) or mailing addresses should proceed through the Special:Emailuser function. For this reason you should have an e-mail configured in your user preferences. If you don't wish to reveal your e-mail, consider creating a temporary account at a free e-mail provider. All exchanges are at own risk and Wikimedia Commons receives no portion of proceeds and provides no protection from malicious parties or management of disputes.

WB: I shoot a lot of basketball games for wikipedia. Sometimes I do so from the upper levels near where the television cameras are and other times I am right on the baseline. I need a better lens for baseline situations. Offer: Canon EF-S 10–22 mm 1:3.5–4.5 USM edit

I bought this wideangle lens more than a year ago and then decided later that I'd rather shoot landscape with a Canon 16–35. Therefore, this 10–22 has only been used a couple of times. I would describe its status as "seldomly used, looks like new" which should be the equivalent of a 10 on the B&H Used Equipment Rating System. Offer: Two M42 mount Telezoom lenses edit

the Exacta lens

I'm about to throw them into the bay, but I thought I'd ask here first. I've got two M42 mount telezoom lenses:

~~Exakta 70-210mm F4.5-5.6 (the first four images in Category:Exakta zoom lenses are of this very lens)~~
RMC Tokina 100-300mm F5.6 (pictures to follow)

Picture quality is of course not as good as with modern zoom lenses, but they are both in good to very good condition. If I could get a few bucks for them, they would directly go into my photo gear budget. I'd also consider a trade-off for M42 or K-mount primes or possibly film bodies. Also, if you've got a 28-135(-ish)mm K-mount autofocus zoom you don't need, I might be interested (independently from this offer).

Donation: Nikon D200 and battery grip + Nikon 18-55mm edit

I'm donating the camera I received from Jastrow in 2013, along with a lens that The Photographer received fom Dcoetzee in 2012, both trough this program. The donation includes :

a Nikon D200 body (resolution 10Mp, launched in 2007) fitted with a neoprene Matin strap;
a Nikon MB-D200 vertical grip (please see WARNING below);
a Nikon 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G AF-S DX VR Nikkor Zoom Lens;
Some Sandisk Extreme III Compact Flash cards (1 Gb and 4 Gb);
Two batteries (one original Nikon, a third-party compatible battery);
all the usual trimmings: battery charger.

Important: the MB-D200 vertical grip fell once, breaking the (flimsy) battery trap lock. It cannot lock any more except with en:gaffer tape, as you can see on the picture. It works perfectly in every other respect. The grip is very useful to extend the battery life of the camera and to shoot in portrait mode, but you will need gaffer tape (can be included in the kit if you don't have easy access to it). The tape can be repositioned after you charge the batteries, and it lasts a long time.

Delivery note: The camera will be delivered in Wikimania 2017 (9-13 August - Montreal, Quebec, CA). If you are interested but isn't going to Wikimania, please let me know if someone from your county is atteding and if they can deliver the camera to you. Proposal: I am currently at Wikimania and I propose to get this camera and use it as an individual and as Punjabi Wikimedians User Group. The User Group currently has one low-end DSLR funded by WMF but having one more camera will help us to contribute better as different contributors can use the cameras at the same time. I have personally been able to contribute more than 30 quality images in the past one year. We have been using the current camera for recording interviews and photographing places and people. Proposal: Hello, I'll like to be given this equipment. I don't own a camera at the moment, so most of my commons uploads were taken using my phone. However, I'll love be able to take much better quality pictures for commons. I am the Outreach Coordinator for the Nigerian User group. Pictures for projects are usually taken by one member who owns a camera, and when he is not around, we rent one. I'll be managing a new local community pretty soon, and this camera will go a long way in cutting rent costs, when I or the community need to take good quality pictures.
