Isn't this candidate ineligible for Commons:Featured media candidates ? Commons:Featured media candidates/rules // Eatcha (talk) 13:48, 16 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Is the format ineligible? I doubt it's eligible for FPC, but I don't think the new FPC guidelines were put into effect yet? -- Ikan Kekek (talk) 09:26, 17 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
If it's ineligible for FP candidature, maybe then automatically it's eligible for FM candidature. // Eatcha (talk) 05:37, 19 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
1) The mouse-over functionality is behaving very strangely for me. Default status for labels is highlighted (saturated). Default for the orbits is also highlighted, but as soon as my mouse pointer moves inside the image boundaries, they all turn to be desaturated. When I hover over a label (e.g. "Galileo"), all other labels turn to be not highlighted, and all orbits turn to be highlighted instead. Hovering over an orbit highlights that orbit only, but does nothing to the labels (all remain highlighted) and removes both of the Van Allen Belts completely (though their labels remain). The Graveyard Orbit label is always highlighted/saturated. For reference: I'm using Firefox on Ubuntu 18.04
2) The whole thing is visually busy. It is really difficult to find the actual content between all those giant labels. I'd tone down the visual weight of the axes a bit, and make the orbits stand out more. If you adjust the axis labels to something like Orbital period (hours) you can get rid of the repeated use of hours, km/h and mph (personal opinion: get rid of the miles and mph completely). Adding some white space around the current image could make the whole thing feel less busy and give you some space for proper label placement.
3) I don't really like the color scheme – maybe because it reminds me of the terrible 1990's MS Excel default colors for charts.
Again, great idea, just needs some minor tweaks imho. Cheers, --El Grafo (talk) 14:41, 20 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  •   Oppose I really like the idea and implementation of this active and animated diagramm. But as the previous voter I see annoying flaws in the mouse over function. There seems to be a "gap" inside the white ring above the "inner van allen belt". I would love to change my vote to "pro" when mouse over behaviour is improved because I really love this kind of diagram. So don't hesitate and improve it :-) -- Dr. Schorsch (talk) 11:58, 3 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  •   Info Back when 'Featured videos' and 'Featured sounds' were separate projects, I was going through some of the sound files that passed the now-defunct Featured Sounds project on English Wikipedia and nominating them here. I thought I'd carry this on and nominate this recording of President Franklin Roosevelt's iconic speech to Congress after the Japanese attacks on Pearl Harbour, containing the famous line "a date which will live in infamy". uploaded to commons by Wgfinley - nominated by Cmao20 -- Cmao20 (talk) 19:58, 19 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  •   Comment Fortunately, they're all identified in the credits at the end, so it's just a matter of someone doing it. I would support a feature when these things are taken care of. I also wonder whether some of the photos shown that are not already FPs might be worth nominating at FPC. -- Ikan Kekek (talk) 09:50, 17 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  •   Support Well, it's Wikimedia Commons not Wikipedia, I think there is room for MTV style videos as long as they are good quality and accord with a Commons license. You never know what the client will seek to use Commons material for. Seems OK to me. Cmao20 (talk) 23:34, 9 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  •   Description :  This video shows absorption process by Lorentz's attractor of a surrounding matter.:) There are 25 000 "mass points" (initial conditions) on the shpere of radius 200. Actually, we use such videos (see more for example) for demonstration of main properties of strange attractors for students (Faculty of Liberal Arts and Sciences, Saint Petersburg State University). Most people consider that strange attractors are purely mathematical abstraction. But in fact systems with similar behavior surround us practically everywhere.

  •   Support Excellent animation of a really difficult to understand topic. This video has a high value for teaching. Beside this my recommendation would be to shorten it to about half of the length by using only half amount of points and speeding the motion up. But this is independent from my support vote. -- Dr. Schorsch (talk) 12:29, 5 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  •   Support I'm supporting this because the creature is so active that it sustains my interest. However, it seems to be bioluminescent, periodically emitting light. Is that the case? If so, it should be mentioned in the file description. If not, are the apparent light beams being cast by the video camera? -- Ikan Kekek (talk) 02:54, 20 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
