The Wikimedia partnershipEdit
The Laboratory of Visual Culture coordinates the international, comparative and interdisciplinary research project "Mobile Access to Knowledge: Culture and Safety in Africa. Documenting and assessing the impact of cultural events and public art on urban safety". The background material of the research is made available with the license Creative Commons attribution share-alike on the Wikimedia projects and it is related to the cities of Douala, Luanda and Johannesburg and their cultural events and public art. The synergy with the Wikimedia projects is conceived to contribute to open knowledge, to foster further research and to enhance the use, reuse and remix of the research background documentation for new and different initiatives. The contribution to the Wikimedia projects is made possible thanks to the methodology implemented by the project "Mobile Access to Knowledge: Culture and Safety in Africa", and thanks to the authorization of the scholars and partners involved in the project, and the people and institutions supporting the research.
