Does your account have email enabled?

Voting is open for all Wikimedians who were registered before 1 January 2008 and with at least 200 edits on any Wikimedia project (at time of voting). You must have all those edits on a single account. Even if you have multiple eligible accounts, you can only vote once. The voting register will be made public to help detect voting fraud.

To get the voting token, you need to have your email confirmed and have ticked the box to receive email from other users. To enable, go to Special:Preferences. (If you want, you can turn this option off again after receiving the voting token.)

Round 1 edit

In the main competition, all images promoted to featured picture from 1 January 2007 to 31 December 2007 can be voted for. The images are subdivided into categories by the committee.

In the first round (10-17 January 2008), all eligible voters can vote for as many images in all categories as they want. The top 28 images, by number of votes, from any category will go to the final round - the categories are irrelevant when it comes to counting the votes.

There will be a few days between the first round and the final to allow the committee to double-check the results and discount any fraudulent votes.

Final edit

In the final round (20-24 January 2008), all eligible voters have one vote. The image with the most votes will be the Wikimedia Picture of Year 2007. There will also be two runners-up.

While voting, users can add a comment to their vote in the final. These comments will be published after the competition.

If you voted in round 1, you will automatically get an email notification with a new token when the final voting opens. If you didn't vote in round 1, please get a voting token as described above.

Results edit

The results will not be published before the end of the competition. The list of people who voted is available here (Round 1) and here (Final). (See also Commons:Picture of the Year/2007/Results subpages.) The voting will be anonymous. Only the core organizing committee will have access to the data that connects user to vote. However, at the end of the competition, the database with votes will be published, with user id linked to the votes. The link between the user id and the actual user will stay anonymous.
