Consensual review edit

File:Seehunde_Medemgrund_Hintergrund_Hafen_Cuxhaven_2013.jpg edit

  • Nomination Harbor seals (Phoca vitulina) at a bank of sand "Medemgrund" near Cuxhaven with harbour of Cuxhaven in the background --Tuxyso 22:45, 12 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Withdrawn I'm not sure here - seals aren't especially sharp, and the background is somewhat distracting.   Weak oppose. Mattbuck 10:43, 20 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I disagree with the distracting background: Special with this harbor seals is that the bank is nearby the harbour of Cuxhaven (sometimes there are animals inside the harbour). Thus this photo shows the animals in their "natural" context - I consciously decided for this background. Quality is not comparable with a tripod shot in a zoo, it is photographed with an effordable tele zoom from a driving boat. Due to nature protection you cannot drive too close to the animals. --Tuxyso 11:27, 20 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
It's an impressive shot, but the seeing was quite bad. I'm not sure, if it can count as QI.--Dirtsc 17:41, 22 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  •   Oppose The background is not the problem, but it is too hazy, so also the main objects lack detail and contrast. On a really clear day it would have been a great shot. -- Smial 15:05, 24 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
    • OK I take it back. But IMHO the haziness comes from the emissions of the ships in the harbour. Additionaly you must use a ship to photograph from this position and you cannot wait for a really clear view... --Tuxyso 19:33, 24 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
    •   Comment The haziness is due to the warm air rising from the sand at noon. In front of the Medemgrund you have good seeing, but everything at or behind it gets blurry. The blur is not restricted to a special area above the ships. I think you could not have avoided the bad seeing at the given time of day and year. Try again on a sunny autumn morning, though I would not expect to find seals there then. ;-) --Dirtsc 19:48, 24 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
      • Thanks for your clarification. I am not that familiar with the visual conditions at the sea. In German people like me are called "Landratte" :) --Tuxyso 20:18, 24 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

File:Unna_Lindenbrauerei_Kamin_Fibonacci_IMGP3086.jpg edit

  • Nomination Unna, Kamin der ehemaligen Lindenbrauerei, heute soziokultutrelles Zentrum. Die nachts erleuchteten Fibonacci-Zahlen, ein Lichtkunstwerk von Mario Merz, sind Wahrzeichen des Zentrums für Internationale Lichtkunst. In Deutschland panoramafrei / covered by freedom of panorama. --Smial 14:16, 11 July 2013 (UTC) Und wech damit. -- Smial 06:22, 25 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Withdrawn

Needs a tilt correction imo. --JLPC 17:23, 11 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure it does, I think it's just about ok. Mattbuck 10:04, 20 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  •   Support The tilt is OK. QI for me. --Dirtsc 17:33, 22 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  •   Comment With this image I decided not to try a 100% perspective correction, because this would distore the digits unnaturally. As can be seen in category:Lindenbrauerei the location allows either a view with distracting foreground or with distorted perspective or without a complete view of all digits. Maybe this is possible with a crane or platform, but that's not allowed under German law. -- Smial 21:54, 22 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
    • "Not allowed" is a bit harsh. It just is not covered by the Panoramafreiheit. Given the agreement of the artist or owner of the place, you may take photographs from wherever you want. --Kreuzschnabel 09:18, 23 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
      • That is not true under all circumstances. Mario Merz died some years ago - and he has heirs which own the rights. The owner of such a work may have the rights or may have not. Often owners of artistic works do not really know which rights they have and which not. -- Smial 10:07, 23 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  •   Oppose Strong perspective distortion. It's really disturbing (and poor quality IMO)--Lmbuga 00:41, 25 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • Nomination The Saslong peak in Val Gardena,South Tyrol. --Moroder 12:24, 5 July 2013 (UTC)
  • Promotion   Comment Sharpening halos over mountains. --Nino Verde 12:37, 5 July 2013 (UTC)
I didn't notice haloes, but I do think it could do with being more vibrant - try upping the blue contrast especially. Mattbuck 15:36, 13 July 2013 (UTC)  Done Fixed the blue channel, thanks for the hint --Moroder 19:17, 13 July 2013 (UTC)
    Better. Mattbuck 20:50, 13 July 2013 (UTC)
Sorry, but there are haloes. I add a note about one of them. They are clearly visible at the full size view. --Nino Verde 08:57, 14 July 2013 (UTC)
  •   Support Some haloes, yes, but really disturbing only if the image is resized to more than 120 cm width. -- Smial 12:27, 17 July 2013 (UTC)
  •   Support ql imho--Steinsplitter 08:04, 19 July 2013 (UTC)
