Modeling of the institutions in structured data that hold the GLAM objects depicted by files on Wikimedia Commons is mostly done through collection (P195) property and its qualifiers. There are also a few other ways in which institutions may be referenced in structured data.

Use Commons media contributed by (P9126) to indicate when a file is uploaded to Commons by an institution as part of a partnership. You may use the qualifier object has role to distinguish between multiple values, such as when a file is uploaded by an aggregating organization, or when there is data on the specific institutional department (and it has a Wikidata item) in addition to the overarching institution (example values: aggregator, repository, custodial unit).
Institution as "operator" in source statement   When using source of file (P7482), if the file comes from the institution's online database, you should include a source statement that includes the institution also as the name of the source using the operator qualifier. See Commons:Structured data/Modeling/Source for more examples.
