Unclear if pictures were submitted

I entered the Wiki Loves Monuments photo contest and submitted pictures through the special form, but there was no clear message that the submission was finalized. When I reached the last tab "use" or something like that it seemed to be the last page. However when I clicked to go back to Wikimedia homepage I got the warning message that my files were not uploaded and published. This was very confusing since there seemed to be no further steps. I am not sure if my pictures were uploaded but I do hope so because I really want them to be in the competition. Archeopteryx (talk) 23:27, 30 September 2012 (UTC)
- Hej! It looks like they were; see Special:Log/Archeopteryx. The warning message is probably related to a bug that causes some browsers to think that there is unsaved data on the page. It was apparently going to be "fixed soon" in August... —LX (talk, contribs) 17:56, 1 October 2012 (UTC)
Bug au cours du chargement - Pas de bouton écran suivant

Au cours du chargement d'une dizaine de photos, j'ai supprimé la première car elle concernait une commune différente des suivantes (pour utiliser la fonction "copier les catégories). Location latitude & longitude
In the help for giving the latitude & longitude of the camera location, please could you give an explanation of what formats are allowed, or an example of a location? Two little improvement which could help a lot
First of all, I have to say that this new Wizard has made uploading much easier and faster, and thank you very much to the contributors.
Secondly I have two little points which I think can be improved: 1. The files uploaded aren't automatically watched and there is no flag to choose if they will be watched. This causes me to have to go into the page of every file I upload and add it to my watchlist (because I want to know if someone touches it). There should definitely be an easier way on the Upload Wizard.
2. I think that the fact that the date is compulsory is wrong. I have uploaded a few files which I don't remember when they were made and it doesn't say on the metadata from the camera (I assume I edited them - crops/colors/etc). I think it is better to have no date on these files than the upload date. The upload date can anyway be seen in the File History box.

SUBMITTING PICTURES

Openstreetmap

Definition, quality

check for existing file name switched off?
Hi, wasn't there a check for existing file names in the upload wizzard? So that it was not possible to upload over an existing file? At the moment it seems that the check for existing files is switched off. But the check is necessary to avoid upload over an existing file. Heading
My uploads this week have had headings entered into their EXIF by Geosetter, but the Wizard only extracts the location, not the camera direction. Is something broken somewhere? Jim.henderson (talk) 15:22, 12 October 2012 (UTC)
Mysterious errors, a missing copyright option
When selecting "provide copyright information per photograph on the next page", and I mark two photographs as "I am the copyright holder" and one as "other, please write why you have the right to distribute this work", it says "there are two errors, go fix them before you can submit" when you click "Next". This does not occur when all photographs are marked as "I am the copyright holder".
Also, when choosing one of the reasons why I have the right to distribute this work, there is no option for "my friend took this photo and they've given me permission to upload it". It seems like that would be a fairly common occurrence. If that's the case then there should be an option for it to make it easier. Holizz (talk) 23:54, 12 October 2012 (UTC)
- That option is not present because "permission to upload" is not sufficient and because submissions from third parties require additional verification. Commons can only host the file if the copyright holder agrees to release their work under a license that allows anyone to use it for any purpose. If your friend is willing to do that, either have them upload the file personally or get him or her to fill out a permission statement and send it in to our permissions archive according to the instructions on the pages I'm linking to. —LX (talk, contribs) 08:49, 13 October 2012 (UTC)

Idea: parameter target_page
Hi there, it would be awesome, to have a parameter "target_page" or "from" that contains the article, the user was in, when he clicked the upload wizard link (e.g. http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liste_der_Denkm%C3%A4ler_im_K%C3%B6lner_Stadtteil_Kalk ).
After uploading the picture, the upload wizard should help the user to get back to "his" article e.g. by linking or redirecting to it.

Usability
I have just uploaded four files (Upload highlighted in the workflow bar) but the only clickable button is "Add another file". It doesn't seem possible to do anything with these files, so I will give up and try whatever "the old form" is. (This is my first attempt to upload files). - With User:Michael Chidester's help (#No back button?) I discover that I had not noticed the light grey "Continue" button in the bottom right-hand corner of the page. It's OK once I know it is there, but is is rather hidden away especially if there are a lot of file images displayed. I have tried uploading several files and I find that once the page starts scrolling, each new file scrolls the "Add another" button off the bottom of the screen. That is in itself a minor inconvenience, but if a user is unlucky and only scrolls down as far as that button, he never sees the "Continue" button. --Mirokado (talk) 23:34, 20 October 2012 (UTC)
No back button?
There needs to be a way to revisit previous steps in the menu. I just spent half an hour uploading 50 high-res images only to mistakenly click the copyright option below the one I wanted, leaving me with the choice to either re-upload all 50 images or spend even more time editing each one individually to add the correct information. At that point, I was on the Describe page and had no easy way of correcting the mistake. - This is the standard that is being used in Wikimedia Commons and WIkipedia. Unfortunately people over the world all seem to use different systems. I haven't seen a standard yet that is easy to everyone. For example, with degrees, minutes and seconds is more complicated to me - and if you always have to add E/W/N/S, it becomes much more language dependent than positive/negative. UploadWizard does not work here
Here: a Debian Squeeze system and the browser being Iceweasel 3.5.16 (aka Firefox 3.5.16). When calling "Upload file" there is only the "Upload Wizard" title and an eternally spinning wheel. Presumably a browser issue, but the box here has a standard installation. The issue I have with commons is that commons only provides Special:UploadWizard without a fallback/escape link to Special:Upload. -- KlausFoehl (talk) 14:28, 21 October 2012 (UTC)
- The same happened with me, Firefox 16.0.1, OpenSUSE Linux 12.1, recently. I then tried using the Google chrome browser and that worked. After that I tried again on Firefox and it worked there too and has continued to do so! Very strange. --Mirokado (talk) 15:09, 21 October 2012 (UTC)

mp3 file type not accepted

- I don't know why the Upload Wizard does not send you there, but the page you are looking for is Commons:File types. In short: Convert it to Ogg Vorbis (see also: Help:Converting#Converting_from_audio_formats_to_Vorbis_ogg). --El Grafo (talk) 15:36, 22 October 2012 (UTC)

Wizard blockiert

Der Wizzard blockiert durch sein Hochladen mehrerer Dateien den gesamten Internetbereich - ohne der Möglichkeit die Dateien sequenziell hochzuladen, ist der Wizard für nicht ganz schnelle Anschlüsse unbrauchbar. Trotz mehrmaliger Meldung dieses Mangels, bekam ich keinerlei Rückantwort
The Wizard blocks through the common upload of few files at same time the complete Internetaccount. Without the possibiliy of sequentiell upload from one and next (but automatically) is the wizard for not so quick account not for use. In face of few message of this point, I didn't get som answer, so the commonist ist the only possibility for this wizard

Latitude

Witam, Jestem poirytowany, gdyż podczas przesyłania ponad 80 plików mój komputer uległ awarii i wyłączył się! Po ponownym uruchomieniu go już niestety po godzinie 24 otrzymałem komunikat, iż konkurs zakończył się! Nie wiem jaki jest stan faktyczny, ile plików komputer przesłał? Zdjęcia dotyczyły 4 zabytków archtektury: 1. Pałacu w Oborach. 2. Pałacu w Falentach 3. Pałacu w Otwocku Wielkim 4. Piramidy w Rapie.
Jestem historykiem sztuki i zamierzałem poważnie zająć się dokumentacją zabytków i ich opisywaniem dla Wikipedii. Cała sytuacja bardzo mnie poirytowała i czuję, że jeśli nie będę miał okazji wziąć udziału w konkursie, to nie będę chciał słyszeć o wikipedii ani tym bardziej ją wspierać w jakiejkolwiek postaci. Stąd moja prośba, aby mój opisany powyżej przypadek potraktować na zasadzie casus specificus, bym mógł jescze w ramach konkursu przesłać brakujące zdjęcia.
Na marginesie kreator przesyłąnia plików, który nie pozwala za jednym razem wybrać kilkudziesięciu plików do wysłanie jest w moim przekonaniu nieporozumieniem.
Oczekuję ze strony zespołu Wikipedii przychylenia się do mojej prośby, gdyż moje pliki byłyby przesłane o czasie, gdyby nie ów rzeczony koszmarny Kreator (no i oczywiście awaria sprzętu).

Not working
Upload wizard is never working from at-least past 2 month, I have been continuously using Commonist. While using the new Upload Wizard, I get option to select all the images, but there is no NEXT button to proceed with the procedures. Thanks! -- ♪Karthik♫ ♪Nadar♫ 10:04, 23 October 2012 (UTC)

- Biascally you upload your photo and assure that you have the rights to upload it. Afterwards you can edit the article in https://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Enrico_Astorri (if I understand it correctly who you refer to) by inserting your picture there. A few feature requests/suggestions
I've only recently started using the Upload Wizard (because I've only recently had large numbers of files to upload), but I do have a few suggestions:
- A "pause" button would be nice, to temporarily stop uploading if I need to do something else that would be slowed down by a large upload (and obviously a "resume" button for when I've finished)
- It can take a while to upload all the images in a batch, so it would be great if I could fill in the rest of the form while I wait for the uploads to complete
- Some way to access files that have been uploaded but not published would be handy in the event that something goes wrong (either with the wizard or the uploader)
- For those of us who know our way around a wiki, it would be nice to be able to skip the tutorial on using the images

- For the first three items I couldn't find tickets in the issues and enhancement tracker, so feel free to file (separate) requests under https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/enter_bug.cgi?product=MediaWiki%20extensions&component=UploadWizard&bug_severity=enhancement (user account required). With regard to the last item, at least the test version on http://test2.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:UploadWizard offers a "Skip this step in the future" checkbox. - After uploading, under "Release rights", you can click "This file is not my own work" and describe the case. Doesn't this work for you? / Nach dem "Hochladen" kommt die Seite "Lizenz wählen", und dort sollte man dies bereits angeben koennen. "next" button was not shown
Hi everyone. I was going to upload some OGA files through the upload wizard. But after the selecting and uploading, the "次 (next)" button was not shown, so I couldn't finish uploading. Please fix it! Akaniji (talk) 12:24, 31 October 2012 (UTC)

Won't let me complete the upload

- Try hitting the 'Add categories and more information ...' of each upload and see if there are any errors hidden beneath there. TheDJ (talk) 15:25, 31 October 2012 (UTC)
