Proposal for the structure of flag template

more detailed info on usage

NAME

Name of the flag (e.g. Union Jack). If there is no name other than 'Flag of Foo' then omit this parameter; use an '*' to show the file name.

DEFAULT

Optional. Set '1', if the flag is the default flag of the entity specified in OF. In most cases the filename will be 'Flag of FOO' if this is true. If it is not the default flag, omit the parameter.

OTHERNAMES

Optional. Other names of the flag additionally to 'Flag of FOO' and the name specified in NAME, separated by ';'. Omit paramter when there is no such name.

COUNTRY

Optional. Country to which the flag belongs. If it is no country flag, omit this parameter. Use the name of the Commons gallery of that country.

OF

Object, which uses the flag. Use the name of the Commons gallery of that entity. If there is no gallery use the name from English Wikipedia.

FROM

Date, when the flag was officially introduced (set 'never' when the flag is inofficial or a proposal). Format of the date should be YYYY-MM-DD, YYYY-MM, YYYY, YYY0s or CCth century.

UNTIL

Date, when the flag was officially disestablished (only to be entered if not current). Same format of the date as with FROM.

CREATOR

Name of the creator of the flag, if known. If the flag was co-created by more persons, separate them with ';'.

FORMAT

The proportion height/width. Two numbers separated by ':' (e.g. '2:3'). Should be corresponding the proportion of image height to image width.

FIAV

Optional. FIAV code made up of six binary numbers and specifying the specific use of the flag in its territory. [1] is a good source for FIAV codes.

TYPE

Optional. Use this only when the type of usage is not covered by FIAV. Else omit this parameter.

MAINCOLORS

Main colors of the flag. If the flag is striped, then mention them in order of the stripes from top to bottom respectively from left to right. Mention other colors at the end.

SHAPE

Optional. Shape of the flag. Only to be specified if not rectangular.
