Commons:WikiProject Magic Lantern Film Loops
This WikiProject will be the page on which to coordinate the sharing of chromolithographic film loops from the Swiss Film Archive's collection. The cinematographic magic lantern are toys from the beginning of the 20th century, magic lanterns that brought to life brief moments of colored animations. Still mysterious, the technique is based on rotoscopy, that is to say that scenes were transferred on famous cinematographic subjects such as the serpentine dance. Then the subjects were printed on film by a chromolithographic process. The project now consists in making these digitized loops accessible but also in trying to identify them. Indeed, several manufacturers are at the origin of these toys and these films and it is a question, by a collaborative project, of dating them and of better describing them.
