Commons:Wiki Loves Art Netherlands

Wiki loves art was a photo competition / scavenger hunt that took place throughout the Netherlands between June 1st and June 31st of 2009. For this project, over 45 museums from cities all over the country welcomed amateur photographers and allowed them to take pictures or their art collections for Wikipedia. In total, 5.413 pictures were uploaded, tagged and added to the Flickr group, and most of them were transferred to Commons shortly after. During the course of the project several events were organized, including a photo workshop in the Tropenmuseum and a midsummer party in Museum Boijmans van Beuningen.
Wiki loves art was an initiative of Wikimedia Nederland (the Dutch Wikimedia chapter) and Creative Commons NL and was supported by XS4ALL, N8, Erfgoed Nederland and de Nederlandse Museumvereniging (the Dutch museum association).
