Wiki Loves Monuments Norway
September 2019

Participate
The main part of the Wiki Loves Monuments contest is the photo contest. Photos of registered monuments in Norway must be uploaded to Wikimedia Commons during September to qualify. The photos can be taken at any time, but only photos uploaded during the month of September will be judged. The winners will be announced on October 31, 2019.
Step 1. Find monuments to photograph
You can find monuments near you by using the map on Kulturminnesøk or the relevant lists on the Norwegian Bokmål Wikipedia. Make note of the monument ID.
Step 2. Photograph the monument
Step 3. Upload your photos
Upload the photos you have taken to Wikimedia Commons during September using the button below. Remember to add the monument ID from step 1 in the upload form.

Writing contest
Like in previous years, Wikimedia Norge will also organize a writing contest that runs during the photo contest. During September the monthly contest on the Wikipedias in Norwegian Bokmål, Norwegian Nynorsk and Northern Sami will be about monuments in Norway. In order to participate you need to register for the writing contest.

Sámi category
In 2019 we are introducing a category with special prizes for Sámi monuments in the Norwegian part of Wiki Loves Monuments. Photos of Sámi monuments are also automatically eligible for the main part of the contest. If a photo you have taken is of a Sámi monument, just indicate so in the bottom list of options in the normal upload form.
Unfortunately, the national database of eligible monuments (found at Kulturminnesøk) doesn't mark Sámi monuments in a consistent way. To find out if a monument is Sámi, read the description of the monument in the database. If you suspect that a monument would count as Sámi but aren't sure, you can mark the photo as a Sámi monument in the upload form and the organizers of Wiki Loves Monument Norway will help you research whether or not it is eligible.

About the contest
Wiki Loves Monuments was first organized in the Netherlands in 2010. In 2011 the contest was expanded to a number of European countries, and in 2012 it went global with 35 participating countries from all over the world. Wikimedia Norge is now organizing the Norwegian part of the contest for the ninth time, having organized it every year since 2011.
An overview of all eligible monuments for the photo contest can be found on Kulturminnesøk, which is a map tool made by the Norwegian Directorate for Cultural Heritage. More resources can be found on the monuments page.
