Redundant maintenance cats edit

We do have the largely redundant cats
Category:Images lacking a description, that currently has only 5 files, and
Category:Media lacking a description, that has several thousands of files, mostly images, very few PDFs.
For those who are interested in this, would you prefer to merge the nearly empty Category:Images lacking a description into Category:Media lacking a description or to make Category:Images lacking a description a subcat of Category:Media lacking a description? The latter would require a recategorization of all images from Category:Media lacking a description to Category:Images lacking a description. -- Túrelio 09:50, 7 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Yes, right now they are redundant and I support the merge. Ideally, this is how all maintenance cats should be structured:
  • Category:Media... (sub-cats only, no files)
    • Category:Audio files... (or a more confusing name: Category:Multimedia for cleanup)
    • Category:Images...
    • Category:Videos...
    • Category:Text files... (I never seen this before - I just made it up)

This is how Category:Media cleanup templates is structured. However, since many of the same templates are used, recategorization would have to be by hand or a bot which reads the file extensions. I think a merge makes the most sense right now. - Rocket000 00:03, 8 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

To clarify, I support the upmerge, that is empty Category:Images lacking a description into Category:Media lacking a description. - Rocket000 00:08, 8 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
Done. -- Túrelio 08:36, 8 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
