Template:Limited version edit
I just created a template that can be used as a friendly warning to the re-users and helps to protect the interest of the contributors. I think it serves as a middle ground without breaking the CC license as it doesn't add any additional requirements. Jee 15:40, 12 January 2014 (UTC)
Examples section edit
While I think the new Examples section does help illustrate the main issue here, I'm concerned that it isn't clear about (a) what jurisdiction(s) it applies to (US? others?), and (b) what facts (or whose opinions) this is based on. In particular, given that the previous section quotes the CC FAQ at length, we may be giving the impression that CC has okayed these examples. --Avenue (talk) 22:53, 13 January 2014 (UTC)
- CC will not comment on a particular case per their policy. So if there is such a tone, it should be corrected. Jee 02:19, 14 January 2014 (UTC)
- @Avenue: I was looking for citations to relevant legal opinions from Japan and the United States (because of my relative familiarity with these countries), but so far with no success. I can think of two ways to prevent such misunderstanding that they are hard facts: 1) Put a disclaimer. (Here is my attempt.) 2) Leave it as questions such as "Are these considered the same work?" rather than statements. In that way, we might include a wider range of possibly relevant examples. whym (talk) 03:19, 14 January 2014 (UTC)
- The disclaimer addresses my concerns about what the examples are based on, thanks. I'm still concerned about jurisdictional differences. I've come across suggestions that this issue could play out differently outside the US, e.g. in the UK, or in continental Europe,[1] although nothing very definitive.
