Why only check articles (or Wikipedia for that matter)? This way just returns a bunch of stub pictures that, IMO, aren't that important. They're almost always used at very small sizes and can change whenever someone feels like changing the template. I'm curious as to what the most used images that should be SVG are in general. If you include images on talk pages then you'll get far more images that are just used at small sizes on templates and will just get changed whenever someone feels like changing the template. Similarly with non-Wikipedia wikis that don't use images to illustrate as much. Looking only at WP article pages is the closest you'll get to seeing images that are particularly valuable, IMO. I have a bot ready for this (and similar categories for which such sorting is useful, such as Category:Images with watermarks), but didn't find the time to make a bot request yet.
