A bronze sculpture of a man wearing buckskin and a cowboy hat on horseback. He holds a rifle in the crook of his elbow. His left hand holds the reins and holds his right arm up to the right. The horse is on an uneven rock with the front of its body higher than the back. The right leg of the horse is bent and not touching the ground.

"Kit Carson" by Frederick MacMonnies. Theodore Roosevelt bought this statue at Tiffany's in March 1915 as an "un-birthday present to himself," according to his wife Edith Roosevelt. It sits on the mantle in the North Room in the Theodore Roosevelt Home.
