Sogar solche harmlosen Szenen sind nicht selbstverständlich, wie ein Tagebucheintrag von William Dodd belegt: "In Stuttgart wurde ein amerikanischer Tourist verhaftet, weil er ein altes Dorf ganz in der Nähe fotographiert hatte. (28:26) Niemand darf mehr ohne staatliche Erlaubnis fotographieren. Als die Beamten vor Ort herausfanden, daß es sich um einen Amerikaner handelte, der in Deutschland Geld ausgab, und keine Ahnung von dem strengen Gesetz hatte, haben sie ihn nach zwei Stunden aus dem Gefängnis entlassen."
