Description

Ve el trabajo fotográfico completo aquí: www.rodrigorojo.com/mier/index.html Mier, Tamaulipas (el "Pueblo Mágico" más al Norte del país): Actualmente, y después de pasar por una guerra de 8 meses, Ciudad Mier, Tamaulipas, tiene sólo el 20% de su población. El resto de las casas y comercios están abandonados. En algún momento, este poblado de 6 mil habitantes llegó a quedarse sólo con 800 personas. La violencia paró el poblado a tal grado que: -Se registraron balaceras por más de 8 horas seguidas. -La Presidencia Municipal tuvo que irse a otro pueblo, Ciudad Miguel Alemán, a despachar. -Estuvieron 4 meses sin gasolina (y 15 días sin tortillas). -No hay una sola casa en la calle principal que no tenga balazos en la fachada.

Otro poblador: "Mi familia es de historia en Mier, sobrevivió a las invasiones americanas, a los apaches, a la Revolución... Y unos cuantos desalmados vienen y acaban con una historia. Mi madre ya murió, no me queda nada acá y por eso me voy".
