My father gets on a train. (behind white hat) Perhaps this is the line to Bo and beyond. The Sierra Leone Government railway (1897-1974) was constructed to a 762mm gauge,reaching BO in 1903 (103 miles) and eventually terminating at Pendembu (227 miles). Garratt locomotives operated on this line during World War II. Some locomotives and carriages survive in a nascent museum in Freetown.
