Title
"Portrait of Empress Marie-Thérèse of Austria"
Description
English: Portrait of an unidentified Princess of France of the 17th century with a Mantle fleurdelisé, misidentified with Maria Theresa of Austria (1717-1780).
"The sitter is identified as Empress Marie-Thérèse d'Autriche (1717-1780) on a hand-written collector's label on the stretcher. The portrait epitomizes 18th century portraiture of royalty figures, featuring a confident woman looking straight at the viewer. Her attire and the pearls in her hair emphasize her status of nobility." [1]
