English: 'Tecla', Tall Ships Belfast 2009 'Tecla' is seen here in Belfast Lough as part of the 'Parade of Sail' event to mark the end of the Tall Ships event in Belfast.
'Tecla', built in Holland in 1915 as a herring boat, was originally launched under the name 'Graaf van Limburg Stirum'. In 1935 she was sold, fitted with her first engine and re-christened 'Tecla', sailing the coastal waters of the Denmark transporting heavy grain, stone and turf between the Danish islands. She returned to Holland in the 1980's and was re-fitted as a charter sailing vessel. |
