Summary edit

Description
English: Powder for "Øllebrød". The powder consists of dried granules of baked whole grain rye bread (made from sourdough). In its dried state it has a long shelf life. This sample is from a commercial batch and demerara sugar has been added. To make Øllebrød from powder like this, water is added and then it is cooked to a smooth porridge, in a couple of minutes. Homemade Øllebrød often involves soaking rye bread in "Hvidtøl" over night and then cook it to a porridge with sugar and sometimes spices like orange peel fx. in the morning. Notes:Hvidtøl is the traditional beer of Denmark. It is dark, sweet and spicy with a low alcoholic percentage. Rye bread in Denmark is usually made from sourdough.
