Description
Deutsch: Im Lauf des 20. Jahrhunderts entwickelte sich der Hafenort İskenderun (Alexandrette) am gleichnamigen Golf, der im 19. Jahrhundert (1841) nur aus einer Hütte und einer Anlegestelle bestand, zu einem der wichtigsten Mittelmeerhäfen der Türkei mit bedeutenden Industrien und Ölraffinerien mit fast 200.000 Einwohnern. Von hier startete die Fırka-i Islahiye 1865 ihre Militär-Aktionen gegen die rebellierenden Nomadenstämme des Amanus-Gebirges, des Maraş-Grabens, der Çukurova und der Kozan Oğulları im Taurus.
