Common name - Indian nettle Nativity - India Leaves are cooked and eaten as a vegetable ; Powdered leaves are used to cure infected wounds; The active medicinal compounds like Acalyphine are extracted from this plant ; Paste of the leaves can be applied to burns; Has antibacterial and antifungal activities ; Root decoction is taken to treat asthma, and also to clean liver and kidneys. Sanskrit: Harita-manjari ; Malayalam: Kuppamani; Telugu: Kuppichettu
