大冶鐵山 （湖北省）

大冶鐵山とは大治縣鐵山と獅子山鐵山を併せて云ふのである。この鐵山は淸朝光緒十六年、時の湖廣總督張子洞が古書に依つて鐵鑛の存在を知り調査發掘したのに始まるが、實際は、唐宋時代からこの鐵鑛を採鑛し製鐵してゐた遺跡があるから發見はずつと古いかも知れない張子洞の發見以來、採掘製鐵上に幾度かの曲折を經て日支合辦の漢治煤鐵公司を創立し日本製鐵業者は原料をここに仰いでゐるが、他に、漢陽と大治に製鐵所を設けてゐる、寫眞は大治獅子山鑛區中で最重要の鑛區、で含有量六十五パーセント内外である鑛質の優秀なることは世界に有名である。｜（印畫の複製を禁ず）
