전심으로 불경을 송지(頌持)하면 재액을 물리칠 수 있다는 이야기를 실은 밀교(불교)(密敎) 경전이다. 중국에서 밀교가 당대 이후에 점점 쇠퇴해졌기 때문에 이 경전은 매우 얻기 힘든 책이 되었다 한다.

   성종 때 고승 학조(學祖)의 발문에 의하면, 인수대비(仁粹大妃) 한씨가 성종의 장수를 빌기 위하여 본서를 간행케 했는데, 당본(唐本)을 그대로 본따서 그림을 그리고 글씨를 새겼다고 한다. 
이 책은 학조의 발문(1485년)보다 56년 뒤인 명종 16년(1561)에 대청산 해탈암에서 나온 판이다.
