中文（繁體）：埔里社支廳署(今埔里舊圓環合作金庫址)，約攝於日明治42年(1909年)，李玉書醫師家族老照片

明治42年(1909)台北士林名醫李玉書，剛從醫學校畢業派至日本赤十字社台灣支部的擔任代理醫員，因投入理番救護之事業而曾短暫停留約一個月在埔里社，所以擁有這張「埔里社支廳」舍的舊影像，這時期的埔里社支廳舍建築樣式仍留存清代官衙建築(埔里撫民分府衙門)特有的燕尾屋脊，甚是珍貴。其庭前廣場上設有布告欄、郵筒等，並有好幾個埔里囝仔好奇的在此觀看。

日明治28年(西元1895年)11月，日軍進入大埔城後，接收清代大埔城內的官衙與軍營，其中埔里撫民分府衙門(今舊圓環合作金庫址)成為「台灣民政支部埔里社出張所」，是為埔里地區最高行政中樞所在。明治29年(1896年) 4月1日，全島行三縣一廳制，「台灣民政支部埔里社出張所」改制稱台中縣「埔里社支廳」。到了明治34年(1901年)11月，台灣再廢三縣改為20廳時期，改隸「南投廳埔里社支廳」。
